The SPARK-AI Alliance (Schools of Public Administration and Actors for Research and Knowledge on AI) aims to help public officials worldwide to learn about and apply artificial intelligence responsibly. The goal is to ensure that transparency and inclusivity always prevail in value-creating use, and that human rights are always at the forefront.
We wrote about the course here when it was launched:
AI and Digital Transformation in Government – A global course for civil servants, created by the University of Oxford and UNESCO.
To maximize the effectiveness of the initiative, UNESCO is working with higher education institutions in public administration to integrate the curriculum into national training programs. To date, civil servants from more than 190 countries have registered for the course. Our UNESCO Chair is an active participant in this mobilization process.
It is heartwarming news that, according to data from January 2026, Hungary ranks fourth in the world in terms of the number of applicants from nearly 200 countries who have completed the English-language version (there is also a Spanish-language version). The value of this data is further enhanced by the fact that the top ten countries include large populations such as the United States, China, Great Britain, India, and France.
Congratulations to all Hungarian learners who have completed the course!
